We pride ourselves on the caring nature of the school and all staff are committed to ensuring that your child is safe, well and happy.

Wellbeing and children's mental health is extremely important to us. We have a trained ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) for pupils who feel they need somebody to talk to about things that may be troubling them. She is qualified to deliver a range of support and can also offer drawing and talking therapy. We have a dedicated space called the "Happiness Hub" where children can received the care and support they require in a confidential, yet welcoming space.

Each class has a worry monster and children are free to note down any concerns and these will be read and addressed by the class teacher.

We offer nurture opportunities at lunch time for children who struggle during free time.

We have recently started to develop a sensory area in the library for children who benefit from this approach, should they become overwhelmed. We also have a member of staff trained in Lego therapy.

There are also 2 reflection areas in school - one in the library and the other on the playground. These areas are designed to offer pupils a place to sit in quiet contemplation. There are a range of resources such as Bible stories, prayer bears and note paper for them to compose their own prayers.

We recognise that the key to a happy school life is dependent on the way we treat each other. For this reason, we put a great deal of emphasis on kindness. We acknowledge when others are spontaneously kind and children can nominate others for demonstrating our Christian values in action and their name appears on the display in the hall.

We have trained staff to deal with any incident requiring first aid.

It is the duty of the school to work with other agencies and we will seek advice or a make referrals to First Response if there is reason to believe that a child is in need of protection.

Our PSHE and Relationships and Sex Education curriculum supports children to develop resilience and self awareness. We do not cover sex education at First School level.

Children are taught to treat every one with equal respect regardless of race, age, gender, background or ability through example set within the school and its own community as well as through worship.
